Welcome to Milehaus Farm!
We are located in the beautiful BC mountains, near 100 Mile House British Columbia. What started as an idea to have a few sheep increased to a few Llamas, and then some Alpacas. Over the past years we have carefully looked at bloodlines, fleeces and exactly what we wanted our lifestyle to be. The conclusion we came to was that we wanted animals that we could enjoy on a daily basis for their beauty and charm. We knew how much work a farm could be, so we needed easy to care for, low maintenance, friendly animals.
Through much research we decided upon Shetland Sheep. They had the smaller size, the natural health and vigor, with soft, fine and crimpy fleece. We also loved that the rams were a horned sheep. Our rams develop beautiful spiralling horns and we are able to leave them intact through to market. Meat from Shetlands is lean and delicate in flavour. We have had other breeds of sheep but the clownish behaviour, the easy to work with smaller size, the health of the Shetland breed as well as their fine fibre in at great assortment of natural colours has defined them as the sheep breed for us.
So, if you are in the area come visit our farm. See our selection of fleeces, natural coloured rovings and sheep skin pelts. Having the Shetland Sheep, Alpacas and Llamas together gives the fiber artist the opportunity to choose the blend of fibers and either mix or match colors. You may also see fleece on the hoof and select/reserve your favorite animal for the upcoming shearing. You can also see the best naturally mowed lawns in the Cariboo!
